Welcome to the special world of Rum Point Inn! We are located 60 air miles south of Belize City on the Placencia Peninsula - an area which offers the best of both water and inland adventures. Rum Point Inn, where personalized service is the rule and the unique ambiance is famous, has been run by the Bevier family since it's opening in 1974. At Rum Point you will be cosseted in a spacious exotic setting nestled in your own oasis, a sculpted dome Cabana within feet of the tranquil Caribbean or one of our air-conditioned Garden Suites. The social hub of the resort is the Main Lodge, a colonial style building dating from the 1950's. Here you will find the Library and the magnificent, hammock hung Verandah! Here also is our seaside tropical Dining Room where imaginative meals are created daily. Let Rum Point Divers take you exploring the many cayes and reefs of southern Belize. AURIGA II, our Pro 42' jet boat... the premier dive boat in the area.. offers the most comfortable ride to the many dive and snorkel sites. Of great interest is the very recent establishment of the Gladden Spit/Silk Caye area as a Marine Reserve. It is here, during April, May and June, that the WHALESHARK may be observed...one of the few places in the world that it is possible to see this magnificent creature. Rum Point Inn can offer full SCUBA and snorkel training. The Placencia area is considered one of the prime fishing areas of Belize and offers Flyfishing with expert guides for Bonefish, Tarpon, and Permit. There is also spin casting and trolling for many species including Jack, Snapper and Baracuda.

The best method of travel to reach Rum Point is by way of Belize City. There are daily flights from all major cities into Goldson International Airport in Belize City. Once you arrive in Belize there are two local transfer airlines that, with a short 30-45 minute flight, will bring you to Placencia airport where the hotel representatives will be to pick you up. We do not recommend driving from Belize City. The roads have poor signage and in some places are not in good condition.

The Rum Point Inn Dining Room has earned and maintained an excellent reputation for memorable food and atmosphere. The environment is true Belize, with wonderful views of the sea, lively breezes through raised, handcrafted shutters, and Belizean mahogany and teak throughout. Our delicious cuisine is among the best in Belize! This year our seaside dining room is enhanced under the guidance of Ms. Radiance Rowney. Radiance has international training and furthers our reputation for fine dining. We also offer a fine wine list to complement our food. We serve a bountiful Breakfast from 7:00 a.m. 'til 9:00 a.m., Lunch from 11:30 a.m. 'til 2:00 p.m. and our fabulous, four-course Dinner from 6:00 p.m. 'til 8:30 p.m. The daily changing menu captures the freshest foods available, which are then expertly prepared blending local and international ingredients with a tropical twist. All breads, rolls and pastries are baked here in the Rum Point Kitchen. A specially prepared picnic lunch is carried on many of our tours. If you have any special dietary requirements tell us when reserving space, or at the front office, and we will do our best to accommodate. Radiance will be happy to meet with you to discuss your preferences. Naturally we are happy to provide early lunch and breakfast for our fishermen to carry.

Our fresh water Pool with its soothing waterfall is set in a restful garden atmosphere, perfect for cooling off or reading for a while. Just down the path from the pool is our therapeutic Massage Facility. Here you can enjoy a relaxing massage from Patricia Celenza, a US trained therapist. Rum Point Inn is located on the Placencia Peninsula in the Stann Creek District about 60 air miles south of Belize City or 100 miles by road. The Peninsula defines the Placencia Lagoon and runs parallel to the coast of Belize for about 12 miles. The Lagoon is about three miles wide at the widest point near the mouth of the lagoon. The tip of the Peninsula is where the village of Point Placencia is found. The village is an English speaking Creole fishing village and has a population of about 600. The villagers have become involved in the tourism industry and many guiding services, markets and gift shops can be found in Point Placencia. Rum Point Inn is located just north of the Airstrip. 2.5 miles north is the Garifuna village of Seine Bight, also with a population of about 600. Here too are several facilities for tourism, including an artist, Lola Delgado. Learn more of the local culture such as WASABAHARI. Four miles north of Seine Bight is the community of Maya Beach. There are several small resorts, eating spots and homes for about forty individuals. The road continues north about six more miles before turning west at the settlement of Riversdale to go inland to the Southern Highway. Across the lagoon from Point Placencia is the deep water port of Big Creek, which is the banana shipping capital of Belize. The support village of Independence and surrounding area has a population of almost 4000 people, mainly Mestizo and Creole along with some migrants from the surrounding countries, who have come to work and live in Belize. The peninsula is not very wide, perhaps a quarter mile wide at the widest point just North of Seine Bight. The vegetation varies from Coastal plants : Coconuts, Sea Grape, Coco Plum, Cashew and Mango trees along the beach to the Red Mangrove along the Lagoon's edge. In between there is coastal scrub forest with small Oak trees and other deciduous trees, and in the wetter areas are Palmetto stands. There are many animals on the peninsula from birds to small mammals. The mammals range from The Gray Fox and Raccoon to the small Yucatan Squirrel and Opossum. There have been over 85 species of birds observed on the Peninsula. Watch in the trees for Iguanas, False Iguanas, and the curious Basilisk lizards. Near many of the houses are small Gecko lizards and Tree frogs.
